In September 2022, COMPTON COWBOYS proudly announced a new collaboration. The leasing of an equestrian training center at Shelburne Farms, sponsored by 1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park, as the new home base for the their Compton Junior Equestrians English Athletics Club.
Shelburne Farms is a renowned equestrian center located in the heart of horse country in Hidden Valley California.
This unique partnership also includes a thoroughbred aftercare program in conjunction with 1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park.
Key to this overall partnership with 1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park is the significant extension of 1/ST’s commitment to Thoroughbred aftercare, with the goal of Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) accreditation for the CJE program. TAA accreditation will enable further investment to support off-track Thoroughbred retraining and thoughtful post-racing careers while connecting racehorses with a new generation of riders and enthusiasts.
Shelburne Farms is part of CJE's long term goal to eliminate a financial barrier to entry for young equestrians;
Providing world class environments for training and fellowship based entirely on merit, particularly for those from underserved and underrepresented communities.
Driven by an unwavering commitment to the wellness and fortitude of our horses and riders, this will be a platform for all deserving equestrian athletes with dreams of being champions at every stage from regionals to the Olympics, regardless of their background.
To support the partnership and promote access to equestrian opportunities, 1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park, in collaboration with Compton Cowboys and CJE will curate a series of concerted events leveraging all platforms to promote our joint mission.

October 1st, 2022
As part of the opening day festivities at Santa Anita Park, CJE and 1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park kicked off this unprecedented partnership with an event celebrating the Stagecoach Festival co-sponsored by Goldenvoice Festivals.
On October 15th, 2022
1/ST and Santa Anita Park partnered with Compton Cowboys to celebrate the official opening of the Shelburne Farms barn in Hidden Valley as the new home of CJE. Approximately 100 people attended the event, including longtime esteemed equestrian professionals and local supporters, and featured a BBQ feast prepared by 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and world-class grill master Will Simpson.
On December 30th, 2023
1/ST RACING and Santa Anita Park along with the Compton Cowboys and CJE participated in the Rose Parade 2023 Equestfest at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.
